Mission Statement: The North Central Louisiana Arts Council, believing that the visual, performing and literary arts are a necessary enhancement for all individuals, seeks to enrich the region by fostering opportunities for creative expression; to establish a strong presence of the arts wherein the artists, arts organizations and community can thrive; and to share our diverse cultural heritage, celebrating not just who we are, but what we can become. The North Central Louisiana Arts Council serves the five parishes of Lincoln, Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, and Union.
WHAT WE DO: CREATE
NCLAC orchestrates gallery showings at the Dixie Center for the Arts and the Crescent City Coffee Shop, and other events for artists to perform or present their work through out the year, such as:
Peach Art Exhibit: For over 25 years NCLAC has organized an art competition and show with cash and ribbon awards, to coincide with the Louisiana Peach Festival in Ruston. The exhibit features children and adults, with artwork spanning 8 different categories.

Holiday Arts Tour: Each year NCLAC strives to make downtown Ruston more lively for this late November weekend. The event is an economic booster for visual and performing artists as they perform and sell their works amid holiday open house shoppers.
WHAT WE DO: TEACH
NCLAC provides for as many educational opportunities throught the arts for our local youth as we can secure funding for, including:
Summer Arts Camps: Each summer NCLAC holds a series of camps for children featuring 2-dimensional, 3-D, and drama. We hold the fund-raiser “Pick Your Picasso” to send kids on “scholarship” to camp, with a focus on our outlying parishes.
Youth Educational Arts Events: Our major teen projects are a photojournalism workshop, My Vision, My Voice, and a drama and literacy workshop, Drama Warehouse. Both programs are for teens outside of Lincoln Parish. We also have our annual School Show Performance, a partnership between the Dixie Center for the Arts and NCLAC to have visiting musical artists at the Dixie to perform and educate an audience of Lincoln Parishs’ young teens.
Girls Group Shot, Drama Warehouse 2009, Arcadia
Arts Academy: NCLAC arranges for small workshops taught by local professionals and college students that cover a variety of artistic mediums such as writing, performance, musical instruments, visual arts, and art-business concepts for youth and adults.
Internships: NCLAC recruits college interns each year, some paid, some unpaid, in order to reach out and train more young people to work in the field of art through marketing, program development, and fundraising.
WHAT WE DO: PROVIDE
NCLAC raises money to provide for its various events through grants, and our three major fund-raisers:
Silent Auction: NCLAC joins the Ruston Civic Symphony Society’s annual Mardi Gras Ball for a fun night of placing bids on donated objects to raise funds for NCLAC’s operating expenses, and to eat, dance, and laissez les bon temps rouler!
Keep the Arts Afloat: NCLAC’s main fund-raiser for our operating needs. We take $100 donations, for the chance to win $5000 in a final drawing.
ARToberfest: Area home brewers compete for the best brew, as attendees sample their beers and other micro-brews donated to the event. Live music, food, and fun raffles make the night a unique social event in Ruston! Proceeds go to supporting our Holiday Arts Tour.
