Celebrate Love(146)

NCLAC Artist Member Cindy Gibson has news about an art auction fundraiser coming up February 7:

Valentine’s Day is a day where lovers, friends, and family members exchange tokens of their

love to each other. This year forget about the chocolate and flowers which only last a couple of days.

Think about the warmth of art and how that special someone would enjoy it for years to come. Please

attend Celebrate Love(146) Silent Art Auction to find the perfect gift worth giving. The event will last

from 6-9 pm Friday,  February 7, 2014  at The Depot Coffee House, 211 W. Railroad Ave. in Ruston, LA.

There will be art from local artists, live music, and sweet treats to enjoy. This night will raise funds for two nonprofits.

The first organization is Love146. Their mission is to provide prevention, and aftercare programs

that fight the injustice of child trafficking. The funds raised at the auction will go to Love146’s aftercare

program in the Philippines called the Round Home. This is a safe place for the children who have been

affected by trafficking to get physical and psychological care. In 2010, the United Nations Children’s

Fund (UNICEF) estimated that roughly one million children are forced into this way of life each year.

The second organization is Land of a Thousand Hills. This is a coffee company providing

improved basic living needs to the Rwandan people after the 1992 genocide.  Land of a Thousand Hills

has now expanded to Haiti, Thailand, and other parts of the globe partnering with farmers and local

community leaders to develop coffee into a sustainable income. Coffee sold at the event will help fund their efforts.
