Embellishments, located at 104 N Vienna, is a cute little shop that’s filled with “embellishments” for life. The owner, Tanya Florence, stocks the shop with goods that include quality candles, home decor items, bamboo bedding, and a fun selection of books and other child-related gifts The shop also has a beautiful selection of simple, classic jewelry at a variety of price points, that make it a smart stop for gift shopping.

For Holiday Arts Tour this year, the store is hosting two artists: Suzy Berry and Shannan Inman. Suzy Berry is coming to us from Natchitoches, where she has a jewelry line called Suzy B Designs. Suzy’s greatest pleasure, she says, is seeing the joy on a customer’s face as they “discover” and respond to a piece she’s created. Her jewelry-making began after an inspirational trip to a jewelry shop in Colorado. Afterward she returned home, met a jewelry maker, and set to work learning this new skill. Over time, her techniques have moved from beading to wrapping and soldering, all led by a desire to learn more about and share her love of semiprecious gemstones.

Shannan Inman

Shannan Inman

Shannan Inman is a calligrapher with a design service called Paperglaze Calligraphy. Shannan has worked as a calligrapher since 1997, and has been fascinated with typography and letters since childhood. Having received a calligraphy set when she was 12, she basically hasn’t stopped since, creating personalized, handmade cards, menus, invitations, signs and more. Shannan says she loves how calligraphy “slows me down,” and that she loves the sound of the nib on the paper. In a digital world, when handwriting has fallen out of fashion, it’s very nice to see beautifully handwritten words. Shannan will be doing demonstrations during the Tour.

Rogers Furniture and Gifts, at 111 N Trenton, is also hosting two artists: Cindy Gibson and Julie Roane.

Cindy Gibson is a Ruston native and a student at Louisiana Tech University. She is a ceramic artist, working toward her BFA in 3D Design with a minor in Psychology.  The driving force in Cindy’s work is Mother’s Nature’s battle with humanity. She uses clay to make both sculptural and functional work that is often inspired by marine life. She uses her imagination to envision what lies beneath the surface of the ocean, and says she has “no true affiliations with the ocean; except for romanticizing about what lurks beneath it. What lies in the deepest trenches is still unknown; my speculation on that topic are my creations.”

Julie Roane

Julie Roane is a retired veterinarian and oil painter. She began training in art as a child, but a 40+ year career as a veterinarian pushed art to the side, other than portraits for friends and family. Upon retirement, Julie returned to her love of oil painting, Most often the imagery in her work is of animals, reflecting her life’s work. Julie considers herself a realist painter, and wishes to give viewers a positive emotional experience with her work.
