NCLAC is pleased to offer two Arts Academy classes in October: Tie-Dye Day (for the kiddos) and Basic Photography (for the grown-ups)
First up is Tie-Dye Day, with fiber artist Rachel Johnston. While parents work on Columbus Day, students will be out of school, so NCLAC is offering a day-long class on tie-dying techniques for students ages 7-12. The class will be held at the Dixie Center for the Arts on Monday, October 14, from 9am-3pm. Students should bring a 100% cotton shirt and one other item to dye, as well as a sack lunch.
All other supplies as well as a light snack will be included in the class fee of $25 for NCLAC members, $30 for non-members. No experience is necessary, but pre-registration is required by calling (318)255-1450. Workshop space is limited. Send questions to email@example.com
Rachel Johnston is a fiber artist from Quitman, LA, who spins and felts wool, teaches early art education, and makes cold-press soaps.
For adults, we have Basic Photography, with artist Sonny Monteleone. Fear your camera no more! This workshop will cover basics such as holding technique, buttons, exposure, settings and composition. I know many of you have great camera that you’re unsure how to use. This class will get you ready to take better photos for the holiday season.
This two-day workshop will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 26-27, from 1-5pm at the Dixie Center for the Arts. Cost for the weekend workshop is $160 for NCLAC members, $170 for non-members. A pre-registration fee of $25 is required to hold your space, as class size is limited for personal instruction. This fee will go toward your total cost. The only supplies needed are a camera, preferably with manual settings, and the camera manual.
Photographer Sonny Monteleone lives in Breaux Bridge, LA, where he works as an art photographer, framer and workshop instructor throughout southern Louisiana. For more information or to register, contact the NCLAC office at (318)255-1450, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
