The Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum at Angola is proud to present its first traveling exhibit at the Lincoln Parish Library: Farming on the Farm. Come see historical and contemporary images of agricultural production on the largest prison farm in the United States photographed by both Angola and Angolite staff. A former plantation and still a working farm staffed by inmates, Angola consists of 18,000 acres of the finest farm land in the South. Housing approximately 5,000 men, “The Farm” has traditionally supplied all of the vegetables that the prisoners on Angola eat.
The exhibit will be on display in the exhibit gallery of the Lincoln Parish Library and Exhibit Center from March 28th through May 11th, 2012. There will be a reception open to the public on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6 pm featuring a variety of “delicacies” from “The Farm,” prepared by Angola’s culinary program chefs.
