St. Tammany Art Association announces call for entries to 2012 Member Exhibition; entries accepted February 7 & 8, 2012

St. Tammany Art Association announces a call for entries to the 2012 Members’ Exhibition. We welcome all member artwork of all sizes, shapes and mediums. The Members’ Exhibition will be on display February 11 – March 3, 2012 at 320 North Columbia Street in Covington, LA. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 2-5pm at the Art House before the Olympia Parade rolls in downtown Covington. Any current member of the STAA is invited to submit artwork and non-members are encouraged to join if interested in submitting work.

Drop off of submitted artwork is due on Tuesday, February 7, 10am-6pm and Wednesday, February 8, 10am-5pm. Final selections will be made by Thursday, February 9th.

The exhibition will be curated by Art Association member and artist, Roy Pfister. Pfister began his training at Tulane University, attended the New Orleans Academy of Art in the French Quarter and was trained under such noted teachers as John McCrady, Leonard Flettrich and John Ambrose. Although he specializes in graphite, pastel and oil portraits, he has won many awards for his landscape paintings.

“Our World, Out Of Focus” Photography Competition (Posted: 11/11/11) — Gallery 101 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida will hold its first photography competition, January 7 – February 3, 2012. $3,000.00 in Cash and Bought Awards. The Great Landscape
 (Posted: 11/9/11) — Linus Art Gallery inPasadena, CA seeks entries for an exhibition. What is a landscape? Traditionally it has been a long view of nature, something that makes the viewer feel the immensity of nature. What is it to you? Is it the beauty of the great outdoors? Is the skyline of an urban crawl? Is it the line of a certain horizon? Is the back of a horse? Is it the line of your eye? Is it just a horizontal piece of art? Give us your best landscapes, whether they are vertical or horizontal or simply square. All artists worldwide will be considered for this Call for Artists from photography, to paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor and ink, graphite drawings and fabric work from quilts to stitchwork. Accepted artists will be asked to be a part of a collective show in future months.
