Opportunity:  The Philanthropy Film Award
Deadline:  Monday, January 30, 2012
The Philanthropy Film Award includes a $5,000 prize to the film that best captures the impact of philanthropy on North Louisiana.  The winning film will be picked by a jury of five individuals from the film and arts industry and the local community.  The top three films will be screened at the Robinson Film Center in April 2012. Funding for Louisiana Filmmakers
Application period:  December 1 to January 1 2012.
The Louisiana Filmmakers Grant Fund Program is designed to support Louisiana’s independent filmmakers, who are vital to the state’s entertainment industry and the state’s long-term goals for an indigenous entertainment industry. Open to Louisiana residents with a consistent presence in LA for the last three years. Must be filmed 100% in Louisiana. Maximum grant is no more than 50% of the budget and no grant can exceed $25,000.  For more information, please click here.

Funding for Music: Guitar Center

The Guitar Center Music Foundation’s mission is to support nonprofit music programs across America that offer instruction so that more people can experience the joys of making music. The Foundation accepts grant applications from music academies, schools, local music programs, and national music programs that teach people of any age who would not otherwise have the opportunity to make music. Festivals Acadiens et Créoles
Event Dates: October 15th & 16th, 2011
FAeC was conceived in 1972 as an effort to keep Cajun culture alive. The Louisiana Crafts Guild Hosts the Louisiana Crafts Guild Fair. The Crafts Fair will be held in Girard Park near Girard Park ball park and admission is free, making the entire festival a free event. The Louisiana Craft Fair will features over one hundred crafts booths. Some of the crafts available include wood furniture , jewelry, gourds, pottery, kaleidoscopes, stained glass, soaps, musical instruments, photography, pen and ink drawings and silk. For more information, and an application, please visit www.louisianacrafts.org

Individual Artist Funding: Pollock-Krasner

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation makes grants to painters, sculptors, and other visual artists working in two-dimensional media (excluding photographers) who demonstrate artistic merit and financial need. Grants are intended for a one-year time period.

Kimmel Harding Nelson Center Residencies

Residency in Nebraska City, NE. Two, four, six, or eight-week residencies between July and December for visual artists, writers, composers, interdisciplinary artists, and arts and arts education scholars. Some transitional residencies reserved for recent masters degree program graduates. Residents receive free housing and a studio as well as a $100 per week stipend. MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, NH. Residencies of up to eight weeks (average stay is five weeks) providing artists with time and space to create lasting works of the imagination. Ft. Worth Main St. Festival

Appliation fee: $35  MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival is the largest, nationally ranked arts festival in the country. Renaissance Fine Arts Festival, Ridgeland, MS

Show Dates: March 31-April 1, 2012  The Ridgeland MS Tourism Commission along with artists H.C. Porter, Dale Rayburn and Mamie Joe created the Renaissance Fine Arts Festival to provide an opportunity for people from across the southeast to view and purchase some of the finest artwork created in the U.S today. Presented at the elegant Renaissance at Colony Park, the outdoor, informal festival atmosphere encourages patrons to talk with artists about their influences, media and methods. Bistro Byronz would like to support local artists & arts groups by providing a space to exhibit and sell your art. Each Third Thursday two artists will be featured. There is no charge to book the Bistro & promotion of your event is included on facebook & e-mail blast.
